Recognizing a change of environment is an excellent way
for our dispatchers to "decompress" from a strenuous or disturbing call, RiverCom
provides a quiet space for our people to get away from the floor. Our break room
allows us to heat and eat our meals, catch a bit of television and yes, even
grab a cup of coffee.
During special events and especially during fire season its not unusual to see
volunteers and extra personnel congregating here to take a break and discuss
the incident while not disturbing the dispatch center.

We're getting close to the heart of the dispatch
center. Before going on to the floor there is just one more room to show.
What we call the work room is our adjunct operations center. Located next
to the dispatch floor, this space can quickly be configured to handle
major incidents. The proximity to the communications core (seen in the far
background), allows planners
and operators fast access to the resources they may need to contact while
giving them the workspace to manage and oversee the incidents.
The large table in the center provides a large area to work on mapping
and the counters surrounding it have phone and computer network drops.
